Mesiversario

We had many celebrations, and reasons to celebrate, last week.  Wednesday was M's birthday and Thursday was our 2-month anniversary.  Actually, we both bristle at the word "anniversary" to mark an event that is measured in months, not years.  I found this: mensiversary and this: mesiversario

To celebrate our second mesiversario, we went to a prosecco ("sekt") bar (http://www.dauerbonus.at/detail_restaurant.asp?i=1-0413) and had a wonderful time sampling the sekt and nibbling a cold plate of delicious snacks:

M gave me several lovely gifts, including these napkin rings and gorgeous Edwardian silver filigree bracelet.

On Friday afternoon, we went to the Naschmarkt for a wonderful lunch and stroll among the stalls of fresh produce, meats, and falafel. I look forward to going there to shop for fruit and vegetables while the weather is still good. I think the prices for many things are better than at the grocery store, and the quality is quite a lot better. I'll make some comparisons.

On Saturday, we went to the plant store across the street from Spar, the grocery store, to buy soil and some plants.  We got two enormous bags of soil, and a rosemary plant, as wells as some geraniums and marigolds. Poor M had to carry the bags of soil home, while I carried the box of plants.  It was gratifying to begin filling the flowerboxes, but we'll still need to get more soil.

In other foliage news, the ivy along the wall opposite our apartment was starting to peel off the side of the building during the day on Saturday.  By Sunday morning, it looked like this:
It still looks like that, and we wonder who will (and how they will) clean it up.

On Saturday night, we went out for dinner for M's birthday - a gift from his parents.  We went to a terrific restaurant called Artner and sat downstairs in an interesting, grotto-like area.  We shared delicious dishes like this goat cheese wrapped in bacon with local greens:

And escargot with lovage and radishes:

A great weekend.
